Our Story

Lasseter Family wines are the result of Nancy and John’s travel-based love affair with French nomenclature, places, blends and grapes. They are created with great care and hands-on approach by three generations of the Lasseter family. The intent is only and always to make wines we like to drink, in a fun and easy-going way.

Our beautiful winery in Sonoma Valley, California

Our wines are crafted in an Old World-style, using Bordeaux and Rhône varietals to create unique blends. Estate-grown and bottled, our blends incorporate Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and grapes grown on our vineyard property in Sonoma Valley, CA.

We have partnered with master winemaker Julia Iantosca, who has many years of experience throughout Sonoma County, as we “fine tune” the vineyard, develop our signature blends, and craft what will ulitmately become our house style. Cellermaster Bart Hansen has years of experience from long tenures at Kenwood Vineyards and Benziger Family Winery.

We recently unveiled our winery’s new package highlighting original proprietary names for two Rhone-style Spring release wines, the 2010 Enjoué and the 2009 Chemin de Fer. The new package, designed by internationally acclaimed, long-time Sonoma Valley artist Dennis Ziemienski, captures our creative and convivial approach to making wine.  Nancy notes, “Each wine represents our passion for old world style blends and there is truly a story in every bottle.  We felt that Dennis was an ideal artist to capture that story with his signature lively, colorful designs.”

Lasseter Family Winery Labels

The 2010 Enjoué is a rosé blend of estate grown Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache grapes crafted in the style of the dry rosé wines of Provence and Bandol.  The label depicts a diver surrounded by vineyards, a tribute to a favorite family pastime – swimming in the lake on the estate property.  The 2009 Chemin de Fer is a red blend in the classic Southern Rhone style with a focus on Grenache.  The label portrays an antique steam train that runs through the very vineyards that produced the fruit in bottle, signifying the Lasseter’s rail travel through France and a life-long passion of John’s.

Our new state-of-the-art, eco-friendly winery is nearing completion.  Designed by Jessie Whitesides of A-Squared Studios in Santa Rosa and built by local Molofsky Builders of Glen Ellen, the winery was used for production during the 2010 harvest and will be open to the public, by appointment only, beginning 2012.
