Our wines are crafted in an Old World-style, using Bordeaux and Rhône varietals to create unique blends. Estate-grown and bottled, our blends incorporate Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and grapes grown on our 27 acre vineyard property in Sonoma Valley, CA.
In May 2011, we unveiled our new package highlighting original proprietary names for two Rhone style Spring release wines, the 2010 Enjoué and the 2009 Chemin de Fer. The new package, designed by Lisa Hobro featuring artwork by internationally acclaimed, Sonoma Valley artist Dennis Ziemienski, captures the family’s creative and convivial approach to making wine. Nancy notes, “Each wine represents our passion for old world style blends and there is truly a story in every bottle. We felt that Dennis was an ideal artist to capture that story with his signature lively, colorful designs.”
2010 Enjoué, Rosé Blend, Sonoma Valley, Estate
Our love of the dry rosé wines of southern France began while dining at a café terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Memories of that afternoon were the inspiration for our rosé. The name, Enjoué, a French word meaning “joyful, playful, lighthearted, sunny, buoyant and cheerful” captures the essence of this experience.
The wine’s delightful salmon-pink color is the result of red wine grapes made in a white wine style; the definition of classic rosé. The aroma shows notes of strawberry, ruby grapefruit and mango. Its crisp acidity and balanced mouth feel make it perfect with a variety of foods, seducing even the most skeptical red wine drinker. To us, it is a refreshing taste of summer and sunshine even on a winter’s day.

2009 Chemin de Fer, Rhône Style Red Blend, Sonoma Valley
Traveling by train through southern France many years ago, we had a chance to really explore the wines of that region. We discovered wines that showed forward fruit without the overpowering jammy character often found in New World wines. Once home in Sonoma Valley, guided by our memories of those delightful French wines, we crafted our own red blend of estate Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes. We chose the name Chemin de Fer, a French phrase that means ‘railroad’, to honor the path that led us to this wine. The painting depicts our steam train as it meanders through our Syrah vineyard.
Deep garnet in color, this wine has aromas of raspberry and spice, followed with mouth-watering berry flavors, harmonizing with soft, supple tannins for a smooth finish. It is a well-balanced wine that is easy to pair, easy to drink, and to us reminiscent of easy, laidback European train trips.
Named an “Incredible Red” in Dallas-based D Magazine’s Side Dish column.

2008 Amoureux Malbec Red Blend, Sonoma Valley, Estate Grown
We chose the name Amoureux, a French word meaning ‘lovers’, because this Malbec blend is reminiscent of when we first fell in love. We discovered Malbec while honeymooning in Sonoma; to this day, it holds a sentimental place in our hearts and delights our palates. Our love affair with Malbec inspired us to plan it on our estate Justi Creek Vineyard and create a unique blend reflective of our relationship.
The beguiling fruit of Malbec is enhanced by the graceful tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon, the supple fruit of Merlot and the piquant bouquet from Cabernet Franc. This wine offers a mélange of flavors and textures. Ripe blueberry, clove and nutmeg are intertwined with notes of vanilla from aging 18 months in French oak. In the mouth, the impression of ripe fruit continues; the wine is rich and full with a long velvety finish. It is altogether fun to drink, and we think is just like us!
Naming it her Wine of the Week, ZesterDaily.com’s Elin McCoy had this to say about our 2008 Amoureux: “I’m hunting for Valentine’s Day wines early this year, and my first pick is the rich, full, velvety red blend 2008 Lasseter Family Winery Amoureux from Sonoma. What could be more in keeping with the day’s romantic sentiments than a wine whose French name means lovers and whose label features a bee sipping nectar from a red rosebud?”
Naming it her Wine of the Week, Gayot/Eat Something Sexy’s Amy Reiley called our 2008 Amoureux “An alluring choice for a candlelit dinner…a nod to John and Nancy’s love affair with Malbec (thus the romantic name).”

2008 Paysage
, Sonoma Valley Estate Grown
As our flagship wine, we were absolutely thrilled that the 2008 vintage Paysage was awarded 90 points from Wine Spectator, which had this to say:
“90: Lasseter Family Paysage Sonoma Valley 2008, $40, Vibrant and well-focused, with red currant, cedar and tomato leaf aromas and layered flavors of cherry and espresso spice that build momentum toward the finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2016. 318 cases made. — T.F.”
Winemaking is an art form to us, from the vineyard to the glass, and this philosophy inspired the name Paysage, a French word meaning ‘landscape painting’ or ‘countryside’, evoking fond memories of St. Emillion’s beautiful terrain and scenery, as well as the blended wines made there.
As our inaugural wine, it signifies the inspiration for Lasseter Family Winery. To us, this wine represents a painting of estate grapes nurtured on a rocky bench in the heart of Sonoma Valley and epitomizes how the family views different elements blended into a plein air painting, or in this case, blended into a Bordeaux-style wine. With intricate brushstrokes and meticulous blending, we crafted this wine along with our winemaker, Julia Iantosca, to reflect the French style.
Paysage was also awarded 4.5 out of 5 Wine Stains, Tom Sinomeau, The KSRO Wine Guy
